This is an art project based off of a lesson taught about Japanese cherry blossoms. First we were taught a little background information on Japanese cherry blossoms and their importance to different cultures. Then we were given a long piece of paper a straw and watered down black paint. We used the straw to blow the paint out and create branches then we could either use the bottom of a soda bottle or cotton swabs to create the blossoms. I used the cotton swabs.
As an extension activity I would have students pick out a type of tree they would like to create to represent a season and we would create more scrolls and find different techniques to create more trees to represent each season.
